PASTOR RAMEL CUENCA
Senior Pastor
|

|
|
Pastor Ramel Cuenca was installed as the third Senior Pastor of South Orlando Baptist Church on Sunday, January 6, 2008.
Previously serving the Lord at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Ramel was staff chaplain for over 2 years providing spiritual support to patients, family and staff. While serving as staff chaplain, he also served as an interim preacher at First Baptist Church of Clermont and "pulpit supply" here at South Orlando Baptist Church.
Prior to serving as staff chaplain, Ramel and his family followed God's call to be missionaries in Indonesia for six years with the International Mission Board. While there, Ramel served as an Educational Consultant assisting universities and colleges in developing a language curriculum, assisted in foreign professional placements, motivational speaking, counseling and hosted teachers and leadership training. He and his family also worked to facilitate a Church Planting Movement in the city of Malang and its suburbs. Pastor Ramel was involved in evangelism, training, counseling and equipping new believers.

Before going to Indonesia, Ramel served as Senior Pastor of the First Filipino Church in Jacksonville, Florida for six years, a Chaplain Assistant for three years with the US Army, two years as Assistant Youth Minister with the First Baptist Church of Winter Park and 2 years in Koronadal, Phillippines as the Pastor of Marbel Baptist Church.
Receiving his Bachelor of Theology degree in the Philippines at the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984, Pastor Ramel was able to continue his education at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky receiving a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling in 1994. It is exciting to see how God has prepared Pastor Ramel with this educational background and broad range of experiences before placing him in the leadership position of Senior Pastor of South Orlando Baptist Church.
Ramel has been married to his wonderful wife, Sherry Faye Cuenca for 20 years. She is a nurse and has served at Winnie Palmer Hospital for the past three years. Sherry is the daughter of career missionaries and has a passion for missions and learning different cultures.

What is one of the things you love about serving at SOBC?
I am excited to be a part of such an open, friendly, and highly multi-ethnic blended church.
DO YOU HAVE A LIFE VERSE FROM SCRIPTURE?
Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
MY IDEAL VACATION WOULD BE...
Somewhere in the tropics... a quiet deserted beach...
BESIDES THE BIBLE, NAME ONE BOOK THAT HAS HAD A GREAT INFLUENCE IN YOUR LIFE.
