Rick Steele is our Associate Pastor/Minister of Music and has been on staff since January, 1998.  Graduating with a Masters of Music degree in 1987 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Rick served as the Minister of Music for 10 years in Fishersville Baptist Church, Fishersville, Virginia before coming to South Orlando Baptist Church.  While there, he was the Augusta Baptist Association Director of Youth Leadership and the community church's Hymn Sing and Community Worship Service Director.  
 
Rick has participated in a mission trip to Panama (1996), and was part of the International Church Music Festival in Coventry, England in 2002.  He is currently a member of the Florida Baptist Singing Men.
 
At South Orlando Baptist Church, Rick leads and guides choirs for children, youth, adults, orchestra, drama, and ensembles.  Each choir presents a special program at least once each year, with the Sanctuary Choir presenting specials at Christmas and Easter.
 
Since 2005, Rick has helped to design and open the School of Fine Arts (SOFA) Ministry which offers students opportunities for musical and spiritual growth.  Areas of study include piano, flute, guitar, trumpet, voice, cake decorating, music theory, beginning and advanced art and creative movement.
 
Rick is married to Kim.  They have three children, Brandon,  Rebekah, and Kevin.

WHAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS YOU LOVE ABOUT SERVING AT SOUTH ORLANDO BAPTIST CHURCH?

I love the family spirit as well as the unique grace and dignity shown by everyone here.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?

Ride motorcycles, play piano, swim, walk on the beach at night, travel.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE FOODS?

BBQ, Ham, Deviled Eggs, Fillet Mignon, Jalapeno Potato Chips

ON SATURDAYS, I AM MOST LIKELY TO BE...

Riding my Suzuki, cleaning/yardwork, watching college football, on a family outing.

MY IDEAL VACATION WOULD BE...

Anywhere in the mountains in the fall to see the leaves change and enjoy cool temperatures.

NAME A FAMILY TRADITION THAT IS ESPECIALLY DEAR TO YOU:

On Christmas Eve my family rides around the city looking at Christmas lights...sometimes we take our pet (Noel).
